Maidenhead Thicket Bowls Club

Maidenhead Thicket Bowls club had a disappointing weekend, losing in both their friendly and Top Club matches.

Saturday saw them on the wrong end of a very narrow defeat to Burnham where top rink honours went to Gill Gibbs, Bernard Clark and Gemma Hanks.

Sunday's Top club game against Maidenhead Town was not so tight, as Town ran out winners 5-0.

There was more positive news in the county competitions where several Triples, on both the Mens and ladies sides, progressed through against very strong opposition.

This weekend sees Thicket away to Windsor and Eton on Sunday in both the Mixed double fours (AM) and Club friendly (PM).

Desborough Bowls Club

In the Ladies Top Club competition, Desborough bowed out of the competition after facing a strong Royal Household team.

They lost on three of the four rinks, however, looking on the bright side, there was a fantastic performance from the triple consisting of Trish Skinner, Tonie Philpott and Helen Payne, who won 21 – 15.

In the Kennet League, Desborough’s B team defied the weather to play Maidenhead Town A but the result didn’t go their way as they fell to a 12-2 defeat.

In the KLV, Desborough’s A, C and D teams lost to Maidenhead Thicket A, Windsor Great Park and Wargrave respectively leaving the limelight to their B team, who beat Windsor & Eton B 10 – 0.

Due to a late cancellation of the friendly against Cippenham, Desborough had an in-house spoon drive and, after an exciting afternoon, Andre Davis emerged victorious with a score of +17.
