Pinkneys Green inflicted a first league defeat of the season on in-form rivals Maidenhead Nomads Res- erves, winning their Division 2 clash 2-1 with two second half goals from super sub Ryan Simmonds.
The game seemed to be heading for a dour goalless draw in the windy conditions on Sunday at Oaken Grove, until it burst into life in the last 15 minutes.
First Pinkneys were awarded a penalty, won by Simmonds who had not been on the pitch long, which Nomads keeper Michael Pritch- ard saved, diving low down to his right.
However, this only delayed Pinkneys tak- ing the lead for a few minutes because soon after Tom Ostrowski found Simmonds, who rolled the ball into the corner.
Pinkneys doubled their advantage soon after thanks to a goal from Simmonds who made room in the area before firing home, which put Pinkneys in control with minutes remaining.
A late Nomads rally and a series of corners eventually saw them scramble one back from centre back Dave Classen.
There was no time to complete the come- back for Nomads who now slip back to third in the table while Pink- neys leapfrog into second.
Elsewhere in Division 2, Datchet Village Reserves overcame Burnham Garibaldi 4-2, while Eton Rifles won by the same scoreline over Windsor Athletic.
Real Milan remain second in Division 1 following their solid 4-2 win away at Langley Galaxy; Calvin Morgan (2), Kyle Lucas and Umar Riaz were the goal-scorers.
Maidenhead Crown lost by the odd goal in five at home to Datchet Village, and FC Bentons stay top after a 3-1 success over Microblast 17.
In the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup, Maidenhead Nomads were solid 2-0 winners over Inter City, while, in the Berks & Bucks Junior Trophy, Maidenhead Nomads 3rds lost 4-1 to Pioneer Reserves.
Also in the Trophy, Maidenhead Cosmos were knocked out 4-3 on penalties after their match with Dinamo Chequers Reserves had ended.
