Slough’s community champions were recognised at an awards ceremony ‘infused with 1920s glamour and heartfelt appreciation’.
The #OneSlough Awards 2025 saw more than 230 guests, including volunteers, community leaders and local organisations and businesses gather for an evening of celebration at the Hilton London Heathrow Airport T5 Hotel on Friday, November 14.
The annual awards, organised by Slough CVS, highlighted the ‘unwavering spirit, unity, and resilience that define the town’.
A record-breaking 159 nominations were received this year, with judges taking on the task of selecting winners from the pool of individuals and groups.
Among the winners were SEGRO, owners of the Slough Trading Estate, which picked up the Business Impact Award.
Juwayriya Mahmood was named young volunteer of the year while Janet Morgan, Nicky Weeden and Shah Bano Razvi picked up awards in the volunteer of the year categories.
Guests enjoyed a ‘lively’ drinks reception before being treated to a Mediterranean-inspired meal and an evening of entertainment that captured the spirit of roaring twenties.
Saxophonist and clarinettist Viktoria Ann Munn, and magician Patrick Ashe performed on the evening and guests also enjoyed a Great Gatsby-inspired dance performance by the Creative Academy.
The ceremony was co-hosted by Sbba Siddique, director at Asian Star Radio and Gunveen Kaur from the Slough Youth Parliament.
Asma Aziz, CEO of Slough CVS shared opening remarks at the event and was followed by Will Tuckley, CEO at Slough Borough Council (SBC), who gave a keynote address.
Representatives from across Slough, including Slough Borough Council, Slough BID, the NHS, Thames Valley Police, Slough Children First, the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Resource Productions and Together As One, presented 26 awards and certificates.
