Windsor MP Jack Rankin visited an annual exhibition showcasing photographs across a range of genres this week.
The Windsor Photographic Society (WPS) held a Special Opening Night for the launch of its photographic exhibition on Tuesday, October 1.
The society aims to improve its photography techniques and artistry and for members to exhibit their work.
Members often take photos of Windsor itself and offer photography services to the community, supporting events such as Parallel Windsor and the Windsor Festival and Fringe events.
A host of photographs taken by members of the society are currently on display at the exhibition, which is on show until Thursday, October 31 at The Old Court in Windsor.
The opening night saw a ‘large number of guests’ attend to view the displays, including Royal Borough mayor Cllr Simon Bond and his consort David Armitage, the mayor and mayoress of Eton Malcolm and Katie Leach, and Royal Borough ward councillor for Eton and Castle Mark Wilson.
WPS members were on hand on the night to provide more information about the photographs on display and the longstanding camera club, which was formed in 1958.
Cllr Bond commented that he ‘enjoyed the exhibition very much’ and it showcased a ‘fascinating mix of themes’, the society revealed.
Mr Rankin visited the exhibition with his family on Friday, October 4.
They were met by members of the club and given a guided tour of the exhibition.
Spending time viewing the photographs, the society said Mr Rankin was ‘impressed with the high standard of the entries’ and made a comment on each photograph.
WPS is a long-established Windsor-based photography club with more than 50 members.
The society has a wide-ranging programme of activities, including regular walks, demonstrations, tutorials, competitions, photowalks and members’ evenings.
WPS welcomes new members of all abilities to join.
The society meets on Mondays at 7.45pm in The Old Court.
