A primary school in Twyford has expanded its intake age range following the integration of a pre-school located at the same site.
The addition of Little Acorns Pre-School has seen The Colleton Primary School lower its age range to now welcome youngsters aged two to 11-years-old.
The decision follows a consultation process with staff, parents and the community which started at the beginning of the year and concluded in May.
‘Overwhelming support’ was received during the consultation process, the school stated.
Michelle Law, headteacher at The Colleton Primary School, said: “This is a hugely exciting step for The Colleton.
“Extending our age range to include children from the age of two allows us to build even stronger foundations for learning, wellbeing, and development.
“We’re delighted to be incorporating Little Acorns children and families into our school community and share its long-standing commitment to nurturing young children.”
“We’re especially pleased that the highly experienced and much-loved staff team from Little Acorns will remain in place, providing continuity and stability for the children and families.
“Their passion and expertise are a real asset, and they share The Colleton’s values of creativity, individuality, and child-centred learning.”
The newly integrated early years provision will have its own dedicated spaces, tailored to support the needs of young children, while maintaining ‘stronger links’ to the main school’ staff team, curriculum and resources.
The school said this move with ‘provide a smooth and secure transition’ for youngsters as they progress through the early years and into formal schooling.
The primary school in Colleton Drive is inviting families to its Open Day from 9.30am on Wednesday, October 9.
Visitors will be able to hear more about the school and see learning as it take place across all year groups.
Ms Law added: “We would love to welcome families looking for school places in September 2026 to our Open Day.
“It’s a great opportunity to experience the atmosphere of our school and see how we support every child to grow, learn and thrive from age two to 11.”
