The inquest into the death of an 11-year-old girl who drowned at a water park near Windsor opened today at Reading Town Hall.
Kyra Hill, from Croydon, died after getting into difficulties while in the designated swimming area at Liquid Leisure Windsor in Datchet on Saturday, August 6, 2022.
In attendance at the inquest opening were members of Kyra’s family including father, Leonard Hill, and mother, Heather Parker, as well as counsel, Thomas Beamont, and Harvinder Kaur from legal firm Fieldfisher, which is representing the family.
Coroner, Heidi Connor, said she was ‘desperately sorry’ for the family’s loss as she announced a post-mortem had found the cause of death to be drowning.

Responding to a question regarding the official cause of death, Connor said: “This is what has been listed on the interim death certificate.
“We have to remember that verdict and cause of death are different.”
A subsequent date for the inquest has not yet been set as investigations continue.
