Berkshire County Cricket Club have been forced to furlough the majority of their staff, and cancel a number of pre and early season matches because of coronavirus.
Last week Berks CCC took the decision to call off its Marlborough Cup game against Wiltshire on April 12, while friendlies against Bedfordshire, due to take place at North Maidenhead CC on April 19, and NCCA games against Wales (April 26), Oxfordshire (May 3) and Shropshire (May 24) and Buckinghamshire (due to be at Wargrave on May 25) have also been called off.
The NCCA finals day, which was due to take place on Wednesday, June 24, has also been taken off the calendar.
Berks CCC have promised to provide further updates as it receives information from the ECB and relevant health bodies, however, during this time of uncertainty the decision has been taken to furlough the majority of its staff in the Foundation and County Club.
“This should help us to be ready to support, guide and lead the game once restrictions have been lifted,” the statement said. “As staff who have been furloughed are not able to carry out their normal roles please send inquires to foundation@berkshirecricketfoundation.org
