Thousands of pounds have been raised to support babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions through an annual Treecycling initiative.

Each year, Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service offers households a service to dispose of their real Christmas trees in exchange for a donation.

The latest efforts have seen more than £13,500 raised for the hospice based in Snowball Hill.

More than 600 Christmas trees were collected and recycled as part of the initiative.

Volunteers collected trees directly from residents’ doorsteps.

This year’s campaign was made possible through the support of corporate volunteers from Siemens, Holcim, SIXT, Briggs and Bartlett Tree Experts, who joined a wider group of volunteers.

Once collected the trees were taken to Berkshire College of Agriculture (BCA) where they were chipped and recycled.

The 2026 initiative was sponsored by VitrX, whose support ‘helped ensure the initiative’s success’, the hospice said.

Vince O’Hanlon, CEO of VitrX, said: “We really love our ongoing relationship with Alexander Devine and we’re more than happy to support their Treecycling initiative, which just goes from strength to strength.

“The team at Alexander Devine are simply fabulous, and we will always be up for a conversation about how we can help.

“We feel really blessed to be working with such wonderful people, and such a deserving cause.”

Alexander Devine has thanked all those who registered their tree, volunteered their time or supported the campaign in any way.
