An award-winning business providing co-working spaces in Maidenhead officially opened its latest site next to Maidenhead Railway Station on Thursday.
MyWorkSpot welcomed an array of special guests including Maidenhead MP Josh Reynolds, who cut a ribbon to officially open the new location at Proxima, 1 Grenfell Road.
The company was first established in 2017 by co-founders and directors Will Ballantyne and David Johnston after they identified a growing need for flexible office space in the area.
On Thursday morning attendees, including local councillors, business professionals’, representatives from the local chambers of commerce and MyWorkSpot members got the opportunity to network and take tours around the three-floor building.
David welcomed and thanked guests for their support as he gave a speech reflecting on the company’s journey and goals.
He said: “We’re really, really delighted to be here and we really think it’s probably the best located office space, we think in Maidenhead with the [railway] station and everything else.
“As well as offering the flexibility and actual facilities, we’ve always tried to create hubs and offices.”
The company has expanded to the new space, which opened to workers at the start of the year, due to the ‘growing demand’ for local businesses and large corporate companies wanting a town centre location.
In a speech, Maidenhead MP Josh Reynolds praised the team for their hard work and reflected on the company’s expansion journey from Clyde House in Reform Road, to occupying a site in York Road, which opened in 2022, and now Grenfell Road.
He said: “I think it’s fair to say that every time that you guys have done something new and gone somewhere different, you’ve always just stepped up time and time again.
“Well done for all that hard work because this is a Maidenhead business. This is a Maidenhead team that have really just shown what Maidenhead can do and what Maidenhead has to offer.”
The location provides office space, meeting rooms, collaborative working areas, parking and WIFI.
Will said: “MyWorkSpot Proxima offers fully inclusive office solutions for local SMEs, scale-ups, and larger global corporates drawn to Maidenhead as a business hub.”
Speaking to the Advertiser, David said: “We’ve had a lot of support for MyWorkSpot over the years and it’s just really a celebration of our next leg of the MyWorkSpot journey.”
He added that feedback on the new offices has been ‘really good so far’.
“We’ve already got quite a few companies in and there’s a real buzz about the place.
“But we’ve got quite a bit of space for more companies to move in as well, so [we] look forward to speaking to anybody whose looking for a prime Maidenhead [railway] station location.”
David added: “I think the fantastic thing that you get here, that you don’t get, in my opinion, anywhere else in Maidenhead is the ability, in one building, to get everything from a local Maidenhead start-up, mingling and working alongside employees from some rather large international corporates.
“It’s fantastic to bring a real mix of companies together.”
Following the event, Mr Reynolds added: “Being able to see them grow as they’ve got more customers, more people that want to have that office space in the town centre, it’s brilliant and it just shows that Maidenhead is the place to be.”
Mr Reynolds said he also spoke to the team about a business network and he will be doing ‘a lot of work’ with them on that.
Last year, MyWorkSpot was crowned Workspace of the Year at the Hustle Awards run by StartUp Magazine.
In 2023, the company won the Business of the Year and Fastest Growing Business accolades at the Windsor and Maidenhead Business and Community Awards.
