Wycombe Wanderers FC attendances pass 90,000 mark for second season in a row

Attendances for Wycombe Wanderers’ league matches at Adams Park have topped the 90,000 mark for the second year running.

Last season Wanderers attained an average crowd of 3,941 across their 23 games.

A total of 77,314 Chairboys fans came through the turnstiles at Adams Park last season, equating to 85 per cent of the supporters, with the highest home attendance coming in November for the visit of Portsmouth, which attracted 5,816 fans.

The aggregate attendance represents a small 2.6 per cent decrease from the previous season, when the Blues enjoyed their best ever football league campaign, amassing 84 points and reaching the play-off final at Wembley.

Wanderers best attendance of the season came in the FA Cup when 9,298 fans watched the club’s 1-1 draw against Premier League club Aston Villa.

Chairman Andrew Howard said: “It’s been a good year for the club and we’re pleased to have kept a healthy average attendance throughout the season. Obviously compared to the 2014/15 season, when we were near the top of the table throughout, we anticipated a small drop-off but the loyalty of our supporters has shone through and we’ve been delighted with the backing we’ve received at home and away in every match.

“Three years ago – in the 2013/14 season - the club’s aggregate attendance was under 85,000 and that included two large crowds at the end of the year when there were relegation issues to be decided in matches against Northampton and Bristol Rovers.

“This year’s figures show that we are reaching a solid level of stability and now the challenge is on to move forward together and grow attendances to give us the best possible chance of success in years to come."
