A well-known couple from Twyford are set to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday.
Cedric and Jean Gilson married at St Peter's Church in Earley on December 2, 1961, after meeting at Regent Street Polytechnic in London where they were both studying photography.
They moved to Twyford in 1970 and lived for 10 years in The Grove before moving to Hermitage Drive.
Cedric, 71, was the chairman of Twyford Village Partnership until last year and is a visiting Fellow at the School of Law, University of Westminster.
He used to work as a medical photographer at the Royal Free Hospital in London and was then head of medical illustration at St Bartholomew's (Barts) Hospital until he retired in 2000.
Former teaching support assistant Jean, 72, volunteers for the charities Daisy's Dream in Twford and Feed the Children in Ruscombe.
The couple have three children; Daniel, Miriam and Louise, and one grandchild, Jodie.
They will mark their golden wedding anniversary with a small family celebration, including a blessing at St Peter's Church and meal in Caversham.
