Stunning photographs of local landscapes and wildlife have been captured by photographer Kitty Holmes in a new 2024 calendar.
The media studies graduate, from Wargrave, has compiled 27 images of beauty spots within Henley, Ruscombe, Wargrave and Remenham and will sell the calendars in support of local charity Building for the Future.
The images were taken over several years to ensure that native birds and the seasons were snapped in all their glory.
Blossoming spring flowers, a cyclist on a summer’s ride, a warm autumn afternoon, and a snow covered church yard are all featured, snapped on local walks known to many in the area.
To shoot the scenes, Kitty used a Canon E0S250d camera which links to controls on her iPad. This enables disabled photographers like Kitty the capability to control their own equipment and creativity.
The purpose behind the project was not just to raise money for a charity close to her heart but to celebrate the beauty of where she lives.
“I love this area,” she said.
“We’ve got great views of nature and countryside. When I take photographs I can look and see things in more detail.
“Mostly I just take the camera when I go out. Sometimes I go for something special – weather or wildlife. We went to Henley to try and get the swifts – there’s one in the June picture.”
Kitty’s favourite shot is the one of a robin and she said that comments so far have been really positive from supporters.
“A lot of people said they really love it because it shows our area through the year,” she added.
Kitty created Ignite Arts in 2019 to produce films and work on photography projects such as this.
Recently she debuted her urban scene photography at an exhibition in Twyford and this is her first large scale nature photography project.
Kitty’s first film, Speak to Me, Listen to Me, was streamed last year on BBC iPlayer.
The calendars cost £10 each and can be ordered by emailing: katerina@ignite-arts.co.uk
A percentage of profits will be donated to Building for the Future, a charity that supports disabled children and young people.
