The A404 between High Wycombe and Marlow has remained closed since this morning (October 4).
Due to a multi-vehicle collision, the A404 in Buckinghamshire has been closed southbound between the M40 near (Handy Cross) and A4155 near (Marlow).
Thames Valley Police remain in attendance to carry out a collision investigation.
It is expected that the road will remain closed for several further hours.
The serious crash prompted the closure of the southbound carriageway of the A404 between the Handy Cross Roundabout and Marlow at approximately 6.40am.
In a statement, TVP Roads Policing said: "We envisage the road to remain closed for most of the morning.
"Thank you for your patience."
The southbound carriageway of the A404 between High Wycombe (Handy Cross Roundabout) and Marlow is closed until further notice.
Road users are advised to follow the solid triangle diversion symbol on road signs.
