New details about how greenbelt land could be affected by a sweeping plan for a new M25 service station near Iver Heath feature in this week’s public notices.
There is also notice of a programme of road resurfacing works that will affect A308 Windsor Road and others around Windsor.
Planning
Details about how major plans for a large motorway service station in Iver Heath could affect the environment have been released by the developer.
Colne Valley Motorway Service Area Ltd has provided new bat survey data, confirming the presence of Common Pipistrelle bats, and data regarding protected Great Crested Newts.
The company has been locked in a battle with planning authorities to secure planning permission since it first submitted its plans for the greenbelt land in 2020.
Its plan includes 941 car parking spaces, 150 spaces for heavy goods vehicles, a new bridge over the M25, a building for food and drink, a petrol station.
A design and access statement on the plans, set for a 45-hectare site between M25 junctions 15 and 16, said there was ‘an established need’ for a service station at that location.
The company also submitted a bid for mineral extraction at the site this year.
Iver Heath Parish Council submitted an objection to the plans, following the latest environmental statements, and said ‘substantial harm’ to greenbelt land would be caused.
The council has urged Buckinghamshire Council to ‘call in’ the application for further scrutiny by Buckinghamshire Council.
Its objection said: “The economic and operational justification [for the services] does not outweigh the significant environmental and policy harms.
Comments have also been submitted by the Environment Agency and the Forestry Commission.
Road closures
Windsor and Maidenhead council has given notice of a string of upcoming road closures.
An order on the closures, which the council said are needed for resurfacing work, is set to come into force on July 21.
No traffic will be able to use the roads during the closure, though the council has said ‘access will be maintained for residents and businesses affected by this order, where possible.
The affected roads are as follows:
