A cross-cultural evening of folk and blues-inspired music comes to Norden Farm on Friday, July 11.
Mark T. and Iqbal Pathan will perform an evening of Greek rembetika, reggae, English and African folk music, bhangra, and American delta blues.
The duo aim to showcase the global reach and versatility of blues music, blending traditional and contemporary influences across cultures.
Iqbal Pathan was born in Uganda and moved to the UK during the expulsion of Asian immigrants under Idi Amin in the 1970s.
He performs on tabla and darabuka and has worked with a wide range of artists, including tours in Norway, France and Switzerland.
He is a regular session musician and has recorded with numerous performers, particularly in the field of Indian classical and folk-influenced music.
Mark T. was born in Hereford to Polish Ukrainian and Latvian parents and is known for his work with The Brickbats and Rootdogs.
He plays bouzouki, harmonica and national steel guitar, and has performed across the UK and Europe, including in Brittany, Denmark and Italy.
His career highlights include appearances on BBC Radio 2, BBC Pebble Mill and major folk festival stages across the UK.
Together, the duo bring decades of musical experience and a fusion of global rhythms and melodies not often heard in one performance.
Mark T. and Iqbal Pathan will show at Norden Farm on Friday, July 11 at 8pm. Tickets are £16.50.
