The body of a Polish man discovered in Wooburn Common on Saturday is close to where the charred remains of pretty Pole Beata Bryl were found in 2006.
Pheasant beaters made the grim discovery on land owned by Hall Barn Estates just off Green Common Lane near Odds Farm Park children's farm.
It is not far from Hedsor Lane where 23-year-old Miss Bryl - who had been bludgeoned more than 20 times and set on fire - was found in 2006.
Her killers have never been brought to justice despite a nationwide appeal on Crimewatch and a £25,000 reward being offered for information.
Shocked farmer Neal Rayner of nearby Castleman's Farm, said it was lucky the man's body was discovered at all.
"It was the last shoot until next winter," said the grandfather-of-two, who said more than 20 police vehicles and a helicopter turned up to investigate.
"Otherwise it could have been there for some time."
The 58-year-old also said two men with 'strong European' accents and driving a white van had been seen near the secluded spot on Tuesday or Wednesday night.
He said his neighbour asked what they were doing and was told their van was stuck in the mud.
He said the neighbour went home to get wooden planks to help but that the van and the men had gone when he returned.
The Polish man, in his forties, had not yet been formally identified, and his death is being treated as unexplained.
Detective Superintendent Rob Mason said: "The result of the post mortem examination carried out on Saturday was inconclusive and we are currently waiting for the results of further test to be carried out."
His next of kin have been informed.
