A Maidenhead school celebrating two important anniversaries this year is inviting its past pupils and staff for an evening of nostalgia later this month.
St Luke’s CofE Primary School is marking 160 years since the original school first opened its doors in the town and 75 years since the school joined the Oxford Diocese.
Current staff and pupils have been taking part in a range of activities at school, including a special church service in October on St Luke’s feast day to mark the 160-year milestone.
The school will now host past employees and pupils who attended the school before 2005 for a social evening in the coming weeks.
Acting Head, Claire Spankie said: “The evening will be an opportunity for past pupils and staff to reminisce about their time at St. Luke's CofE School.
“There will be photos, log books, and other artefacts to look through and old friends to catch up with.
“St. Luke's has been central part of the local community for 160 years (previously known as the National School or East Street School). Community or ‘koinonia’, is one of the Christian values that makes the school so successful.
“This open evening is a chance to celebrate all that St. Luke's has done for the community for the past 160 years, and all that the community has done for the school.”
Guests will be able to enjoy refreshments and tours of the school between 5pm and 7pm on Wednesday, November 22.
To plan and prepare for the event, the school asks those interested in attending to complete a survey: https://forms.gle/3LcQYCjnFd984ULv5 or to ring the school to book a place.
Entries for the survey will close on Wednesday, November 15.
