Eye problem prevented councillor?s return

Eye problem prevented councillor?s return

01:57PM, Thursday 25 February 2016

I had intended to return after having Christmas with family for the first time in 24 years and attending my daughter’s wedding in New Zealand which would have been within the time limit allowed for councillors to be away.

However, circumstances and events have conspired against me with an eye injury, and doctors here are recommending, but not demanding, no long haul flights. I don't wish to take the chance of loosing the sight in my left eye so will not be returning until I have the all clear from the doctors.

This may take me over the time limit allowed. Consequently I have tendered my resignation as a Riverside ward councillor. On my return to the UK I will be devoting my time to what I enjoy the most, raising money for local children's charities.

I want to thank all the residents of Maidenhead and Windsor for their support over the years, especially those in the Riverside ward.
