New exhibition opens at Elizabeth House gallery

A new exhibition has opened in Elizabeth House gallery which features paintings of renowned buildings.

The artist Pat Shenstone is inspired by how light is captured through different surfaces.

There is a selection of paintings in oil and watercolour, featuring the roof of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the Louvre gallery in Paris, as well as domestic objects like teacups and kettles.

Pat, originally from Maidenhead, said: “I think structures that link buildings are fascinating and it’s interesting to see how the light changes. I also paint everyday domestic objects. I always work on two or three paintings at the same time so I couldn’t tell you how long it takes me to finish one.

“I think artists should always exhibit their work, you have to face criticism.”

Pat moved to Derbyshire two years ago, but still visits Maidenhead frequently to visit family.

The exhibition will run until the end of March.
