Neighbours rescue woman from serious Langley fire

Langley neighbours rescued a woman injured in a serious house fire last night – and an investigation has been opened into the cause.

At 7.13pm on Monday, May 27, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) received reports of a fire at a house on Hinksey Close, Langley.

Two crews from Slough and crews from Langley and Windsor were sent to the scene, together with two officers. Officers are often deployed for perceived major incidents.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a blaze in a ground floor kitchen. Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels and one covering jet to extinguish the fire.

The covering jet is the largest and most powerful hose, used at larger fires.

Before crews arrived, one woman was rescued from the property by neighbours. She was placed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

Crews were on the scene for about three hours, before returning for a reinspection.

A fire investigation will be completed to determine the cause of the blaze.
