A FAMILY who were displaced from their home due to a fire have extended their “heartfelt thanks” to the community.
Nicola Armstrong, who also lives in Whitchurch, released an update online about the family whose home was damaged in the blaze last month.
The family, who wish to remain anonymous, are understood to be safe and are staying with friends in the village.
A plume of smoke was seen billowing from the two-storey building near St Mary’s Church on November 30.
Six fire engines from Didcot, Watlington, Wantage, Goring, Abingdon and Reading attended and used high-pressure hose reels and main jets to extinguish the fire.
Ms Armstrong said: “They are incredibly grateful and overwhelmed by the support and offers of help from the community and wish to extend their heartfelt thanks.
“The family appreciate everybody’s kindness and I am sure everybody understands their need for privacy and respect while they navigate this difficult situation.”
The fire investigation concluded that it was started by the refraction of sunlight on glass.
