Marva Carty, a member of the Thames Valley Wordsmiths
A collective of authors from across the Thames Valley are set to bring a literary spark to the Christmas market at Norden Farm on Saturday (December 2).
Thames Valley Wordsmiths, a group of six writers, will host a stall showcasing their work and offering potential readers a chance to engage with the author.
Norden Farm Festive Market takes place between 6pm and 9pm and features other stalls offering handmade regional products as well as seasonal snacks and a bar providing drinks including mulled wine.
Slough resident and one of the authors in the group, Marva Carty said she was looking forward to the evening.
“I love events like this where you get to meet prospective readers," Marva said.
“All the authors are looking forward to meeting members of the community who might want to chat to us and say hi.
“We’ll be happy to sign things and if anyone wants to join, we can have a chat about that too.”
Marva is the author of the children’s book Mari Loves Mangoes, the story a young child who embarks on a Caribbean adventure.
The group is however, comprised of authors who vary in their specialities including science fantasy and mystery writer Rachel Harrison, and award winning writer of the Sentinel fantasy series, Helen Garraway.
“What I like about this group is that we have a range of authors,” said Marva.
"Helen just came back from a Miami book fair where she won a reader's favourite award - so she’s doing well and she will be there too.
"I know she's excited to be at the event and meet all the attendees - it should be a great evening kicking off the Christmas season."
