Mum’s the word: Georgie Parvin, left, and Hattie Sanderson have organised the Kenton’s podcast festival

GOODFULL Media, the team behind “An Audience with the Movers and Shakers”, last year’s live podcast raising awareness of Parkinson’s, is back with a podcast festival.
Georgie Parvin and Hattie Sanderson, both from Shiplake, have organised three podcast nights at the Kenton Theatre.
The series starts on Wednesday, February 11, at 7.30pm, with “Travel Secrets — The Podcast with Tanya Rose”, featuring the host who has interviewed people such as Dame Joan Collins and James Norton about how they travel.

For this event, which will be recorded in the theatre, Tanya will interview Christopher Biggins, alongside Simon Williams and his wife, Lucy Fleming, who live in Nettlebed. Lucy is the daughter of Celia Johnson, the actress and star of Brief Encounter, and Peter Fleming, writer and older brother of Ian Fleming, creator of James Bond. They will be talking about their travels, including visits to the Goldeneye estate in Jamaica. Tickets cost £27.75.
Hattie says: “It’s a fabulous podcast, I actually listen to it and I find it really relaxing.
“Simon and Lucy are touring with Posting Letters to the Moon. That’s got a really lovely angle because Lucy’s mother was a famous actress and it’s all about the letters they had during the Second World War.” Georgie adds: “Biggins has a personal relationship with Tanya, they know each other and he’s been to the Kenton before. They like him there and he likes them.”
On Thursday, February 12, at 7.30pm, for “Made by Mammas: Mums Night Out”, Zoe Hardman and Georgia Dayton from the award-winning parenting podcast will be joined by special guests, including Georgina Bradley from Channel 4’s Hunted. They will cover themes such as digital childhoods, wellbeing, relationships, fashion and more and each audience member will receive a special goody bag. Tickets cost £30.25.
Hattie says: “I think Georgie will agree, we’re local mums who wanted to do something that worked around our children, but we wanted to do something creative, and we bonded over our love of the arts and over the school gates.
“We get on very well and we’re friends outside of work, so it’s nice to be putting on something that is giving back to the community.”
On Friday, February 13, at 7.30pm, Ollie Phillips and Sophie Storm Roberts are launching “The Eternal Optimist”, with the first ever recording of the podcast taking place at the Kenton Theatre.
They will be sharing stories from their various challenges before being joined by the Turner Twins, Hugo and Ross.
Former England Sevens captain and Shiplake resident Ollie was predicted to finish in the 3,000-mile World’s Toughest Row yesterday (Thursday), after 40 days at sea, with his team, Seas Life.
“We know Ollie personally,” says Hattie, “so we were talking to him about lots of different things with podcasts.
“He was thinking about launching his own which he is now doing, and has a fabulous backstory and everything with being a former England Sevens captain.
“Sophie Storm Roberts is just such a lovely lady and she’s so inspiring and invigorating and just really great to talk to. So that should be a fun night.”
Hugo and Ross Turner carried out an experiment based on Andrew “Sandy” Irvine and George Mallory’s climb of Mount Everest in 1924. George adds: “The Turner twins had a bit of press back in the autumn because they climbed Mount Elbrus.
“One was in modern technology gear and the other was in their traditional kit that Mallory would have worn, so it’s looking at the differences of the two. They’re really interesting and they’ve done some really crazy challenges.” Tickets cost £27.75.
l The Hot Podcast Festival is at the Kenton Theatre from February 11 to 13. For more information, call (01491) 525050 or visit thekenton.org.uk
