CHILDREN at Frieth Primary School have produced anti-litter posters for Great Big Green Week.
The school has its own eco-council of five- to 10-year-olds which organises activities.
During their own eco week the children had a talk by experts from Berkshire Waste Management about what happens to our rubbish.
They also held a “rubbish is rubbish” poster competition to highlight the dangers of litter to wildlife and encourage everyone to stop dropping rubbish and take it home instead.
One of the posters has been put up at a local beauty spot, Hatchet Wood Farm’s wildflower meadow in Shogmoor Lane.
Two more have been posted in the surrounding field and the remainder will be posted in Frieth as part of Greener Frieth’s contribution to Great Big Green Week.
Lynda Brown, of Greener Frieth, said: “The children are an inspiration to us all. The posters are a huge hit and are already having a magical effect on the amount of litter being dropped.
“We hope the posters will be an inspiration to everyone to find ways to encourage people in their neighbourhood to reduce litter.”
Greener Frieth says it is a community initiative for everyone who loves nature and is interested in sharing ideas, learning together and inspiring others to live more planet-friendly lives.
