PC 'no longer in life-threatening condition' after Stoke Poges crash

A police officer who suffered serious injuries in a suspected hit and run in Stoke Poges is no longer in a life-threatening condition, Thames Valley Police have said.

PC Christopher Miller was left fighting for his life following after being hit by a car on the B416 Bells Hill on Thursday, May 22.

The driver of a white BMW vehicle did not stop at the scene following the collision at around 10.20pm, and Thames Valley Police has since made several arrests as part of an attempted murder investigation.

The force confirmed today (Tuesday) that PC Miller’s condition is no longer life-threatening but critical, and his prognosis has improved as he remains in hospital.

A 29-year-old man from Slough was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and attempting to pervert the course of justice on Thursday, May 29.

He has been released on police bail until August 15.

Simranjit Kajla, 28, of Lydford Avenue, Slough, has been charged with one count each of attempted murder, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, and using a motor vehicle on a road without insurance.

He appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 27 and was remanded in custody to appear at Reading Crown Court on June 23.

A 38-year-old man from Slough, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, has been released on police bail until August 23.

A 43-year-old man from Slough, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice, has been released under investigation.

A 37-year-old woman from Slough, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice, has been released on police bail until August 25.
