Planning application submitted for new film studio in Marlow

The Borough has said it has 'no objections' to on the proposed controversial new film studio in Marlow.

The application for land adjacent to the south side of Marlow Road and the A404 junction at Westhorpe Park, Little Marlow, is ultimately up to Buckinghamshire Council.

But the Borough is affected, so has the ability to lodge objections, if it wishes.

The plan is for production space and supporting buildings for ‘screen-based media and associated services/industries.’

The studio would have approximately 168,700sqm total floorspace, comprising sound stages, workshops, office accommodation, mobility hub; cafés; parking; bridge and public art.

It would also have studio hub-associated outdoor space, such as backlots, a new community building and a new cultural/educational/recreational building.

Also included is upgraded vehicular access onto Marlow Road and new cycle and pedestrian accesses.

Lastly, it would include publicly accessible recreational land and ecological and environmental enhancements and habitat creation.

Though there have been many objections lodged by members of the public, the Borough opted to register no objection.

Meanwhile, a plan to build eight new flats in Maidenhead High Street via a two-storey extension have been squashed by the Borough.

The council felt these would not be particularly good places to live for a number of reasons – and also said the applicant should have provided affordable housing.

Finally, an application is in for five new homes at Zaman House and Awan House in Church Road – following demolition of the two existing large, detached homes.

In June, planning permission was granted for the demolition of the existing homes and six new ones in three semi-detached pairs.

Now, the developer is seeking new planning permission for a revised proposal only comprising five detached homes, to enhance the saleability of the site’s future homes.
