Slough firefighters rescued a trapped horse this week - which has now been returned to its owners.
At 12:50pm on Monday, 24 February, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) received reports of an animal in need of rescue on Fir Tree Avenue in Slough.
One crew from Slough Fire Station was sent to the scene, alongside the Animal and Water Rescue Unit from Caversham Road Fire Station.
Upon arrival, crews found one horse with its rear legs stuck in some barbed wire.
With the RSPCA in attendance, firefighters released the horse from the barbed wire before handing over to the RSPCA. The crew was on scene for about 40 minutes.
A spokesperson for the RSPCA said: “The horse thankfully wasn't injured. [It] was chipped but unregistered and subject to a removal order by the landowner - but had broken free of its tether onto a busy main road.
“We tried to contact the owner via the landowner but could not get a response. Police arranged collection and removal to one of their green yards where the horse is getting care.”
Police said today (February 27) that the horse has now been returned to its owners.
