    Live: Maidenhead United vs Altrincham

    The referee blows the final whistle to signal a 1-0 win for visitors Altrincham. It's harsh on the Magpies who gave a lot of effort and matched their visitors from the North West. Only a wonderful goal from Conn-Clarke could separate the teams, but it's now five losses on the spin for the Magpies. 

    90' Altrincham hold onto the ball to try and see out time. It remains down in the far corner, but United break clear through Beckwith and Omilabu but the visitors clear the danger. 0-1

    90' A couple of late corners for the Magpies but they're defended well by Altrincham. 0-1

    90' Six additional minutes. 'Come on Maidenhead' the crowd sing. 

    88' Conn-Clarke, from a lot closer in, drives a good chance over the bar for Altrincham. That could have killed the game. 0-1

    86' A few minutes plus stoppage time to play. United are scrapping for every ball and the fans are sticking with them here, giving them their support in the main. Zimba is bundled over as he attempts to muscle his way through. Not a lot in that, even though the Bell Street End screamed for a foul. 0-1. 

    83' Great chance on the break for Smith, who lashes just wide of Ethan Ross's post. It was a fine counter attack involving Smith, Pettit, Parsons and Smith again. You felt that needed to go in! Omilabu replaces Pettit and Zimba comes on for Mitchell-Lawson. A final throw of the dice from Devonshire. 0-1

    82' Angus comes on to replace Sithole for the visitors, who've forced another couple of corners. 0-1

    80' Maidenhead can't get the ball right now. Altrincham forcing a corner and then a free kick over on the far side, wasting precious seconds. 0-1

    79' Sho-Silva is replaced by Brad Keetch. Can he unlock the Altrincham back door? 0-1

    78' The Magpies must throw some caution to the wind here. They're trying. Smith sets up Pettit on the edge of the area but he scoops a poor shot over the bar to much frustration in the Bell End. 0-1

    74' I mean, there was nothing Maidenhead could have done about that strike. But they find themselves behind again, and they have to try and muster a response in the remaining 15 minutes or so. 0-1

    73' GOAL Altrincham. Chris Conn-Clarke with an absolute thunderbolt. Craig Ross didn't stand a chance. 0-1

    65' You can't fault the Magpies' effort tonight. Both teams receive instructions during a break in play for injury. 0-0

    63' Both sides are being kept at arms length here. It's not the best of periods in this game. Defensively, both teams appear to have the measure on their opponents front men. Both teams looking for that one moment to unlock the door. One goal will probably win this for either side, or perhaps more likely, it will finish goalless. 0-0

    59' Beckwith is encouraged to shoot after striding forward and he does so, with the effort flying over the bar. 0-0

    55' Maidenhead force a corner in front of the Bell Street End. Smith with the attempted cross that's blocked behind. Good start to the second half here from United. Mitchell-Lawson's inswinging corner is pawed behind by Ethan Ross for another set piece. Beckwith's header from the second corner is comfortable for the Alty keeper. United's supporters respond to the home side's pressure. 0-0

    55' One huge plus tonight has been the performance of James Golding. He looks a very composed defender and has marshalled the Magpies backline very well alongside Will De Havilland. 0-0

    50' Conn-Clarke with a strike from distance for the visitors. It was a dipping free-kick but Ross got his body behind the ball and never looked in trouble. 0-0

    46' Second half is underway. Maidenhead kicking toward the Bell Street End now. Earlier in the season, Maidenhead looked a solid, professional outfit who were missing a bit of quality in the final third. That remains the case tonight, however, they look more unsure of themselves now after four defeats. Hopefully, they can restore a bit of that confidence in this second half. They've made a bright start to the half. 0-0

    Half-time: Maidenhead United 0-0 Altrincham. Altrincham have shaded an even game that the Magpies grew into as the half wore on. The visitors have played the better football and forced the better chances but United will be reasonably pleased with how they've played. They need to do a little more in the final third. Story of their season I guess. 

    45' Sithole's first time strike on the run is turned behind by Ross. From the corner Joey Jones gets around the back and gets his head on the ball but he pushes it wide under pressure. Two decent chances at the end of the half there for the visitors. 0-0

    38' Photos from tonight's match action. It remains goalless as we head towards the break. 

    36' Great chance for Altrincham. Eddy Jones whips in a ball from the left that evades Will De Havilland and Banks meets it with a thumping header, but Craig Ross is equal to it and pulls off a flying save. 0-0

    35' Great play from Maidenhead on the right involving Parsons, Asare and Smith, who whips in a really dangerous cross that was begging for someone to get on the end of. Unfortunately, no one does, but that was much better from the Magpies. 0-0

    32' Golding shows his quality to win the ball back and launch a ball downfield for Smith. He tries to take on Eddy Jones, but the left back makes a great challenge to stop a very promising Magpies move 0-0. 

    31' Casey Pettit makes up a terrific amount of ground to slide in and prevent Altrincham from escaping down the right. Half-hearted appeals for a penalty from Altrincham but there wasn't much in that. 0-0

    26' Given their form, Devonshire will be fairly happy with how the side are playing, but they need more from their front two of Sho-Silva and Parsons. Much more. The hosts' attacking threat largely from Smith and Mitchell-Lawson and if the front two don't cause more problems it's too easy for Alty to play out and put themselves back on the front foot. 0-0

    24' Another chance for Maidenhead, with Beckwith blazing over from the edge of the box. They've had a flurry of half chances now. 0-0

    23' As expected, Maidenhead have grown into the game a bit, although Altrincham still shading proceedings. United have just played some nice passing football, to release Mitchell-Lawson but he fails to take the ball with him and then lashes out at the defender when he loses possession. United then break again and Smith sees a shot from the edge of the box blocked. The home fans roar their encouragement. They're doing their part to get the side going. 0-0

    20' At the other end, Justin Amalazor burns past Sam Beckwith and cuts inside onto his left in the area, but his shot rolls wide of near post. Mitchell-Lawson fine to continue following the earlier injury concern. 0-0

    15' First real attack from Maidenhead. Jayden Mitchell-Lawson did brilliantly to skin Lewis Banks down the left and he's caught as he whips over the cross. The Magpies fans scream for a penalty kick, but it's not given. Despite this Smith is able to pull the ball back for Casey Pettit who fires goalwards but the ball is blocked on the goalline. Much better from the Magpies. Let's hope Mitchell-Lawson is ok, because he showed devastating pace there and United can ill afford more injuries. 0-0

    10' Maidenhead are increasingly under the cosh here. Conn-Clarke the latest man to test them with skills on the left side and a dangerous low cross that was cleared under pressure by Golding. The Magpies unable to hold onto possession for any length of time so can't get their forwards into the game. 0-0

    9' Altrincham again play some nice football to get Banks in on the right of the Magpies' area, but a defender gets back to make a flying challenge and turn it behind for a corner. 0-0

    7' First bit of meaningful action and it comes from Altrincham. They work the ball well on the right side and Lewis Banks whips in a cross that just evades the head of Eddy Jones, with Craig Ross having committed but missed the ball in the middle. 0-0

    5' Altrincham have seen most of the ball so far. Passing it around quite nicely, but it's all in front of Maidenhead who look fairly comfortable so far. The home side yet to really get into the game, but they often do this and warm up as the game goes on. 0-0

    1' The game is underway. Maidenhead kicking toward the Canal End. Before that a minute's silence was held in memory of Maidenhead supporter Phil Radjuschko who passed away this week. Impeccably observed. 

    19.45: The teams are out. Altrincham looking like a mix between Boca Juniors (colours) and River Plate (sash pattern). United in their traditional black and white with red socks. 

    19.40: While Altrincham did enjoy a massive home win over Ebbsfleet on Saturday, they have drawn six times this season and have lost on a couple of occasions, so if Maidenhead play to the levels they're capable of here at York Road, a win is possible. Alan Devonshire will want them to stop the rot of defeats as soon as possible, with Chesterfield the visitors to York Road this weekend. It's starting to look like a long, tough campaign for the Magpies and they need a result - to lift morale as much as anything. United have also played fairly well at home this season. They've drawn a lot of those games, but you could argue they've deserved more out of all of the matches in which they dropped points at home. 

    19.40: The teams have returned to the dressing room to get a final pep talk from the managers and backroom teams. Here's a little more from the Magpies on their new loan signing James Golding. 

    19.30: Here are the team sheets for the two sides. Maidenhead feature a new defensive signing in the form of James Golding, who joins the club on a one-month loan deal from Oxford United. There's also welcome news in the return of Reece Smith, however, the Magpies are currently without seven first team regulars and are missing three of their centre halves in Kevin Lokko, Remy Clerima and Alan Massey. 

    18:00: Maidenhead United will look to arrest a run of four straight league defeats this evening when they host Altrincham at York Road. The Magpies poor run of form has seen the side slip into the relegation zone and they're without a win since their narrow 1-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge back on August 19, so three points this evening would be very welcome indeed. They take on an Altrincham side who sit ninth in the National League table, having won three of their matches so far. The North West side are one of the division's draw specialists so far, having shared the spoils on six occasions so far. With Maidenhead's strongest suit this season being their defence, this could be another tight, tense game at York Road.
