A 28-year-old woman has been sentenced to more than two years in prison for possessing a knife in public and assault.
Sian Quinlan, formerly of Prince of Wales Avenue in Reading, was sentenced at Reading Crown Court today.
At about 6pm on Saturday, September 15, Quinlan forced her way into a house in Gloucester Road, Reading, through the front door.
Once inside, she assaulted the 27-year-old victim, who she did not know, with a 12-inch kitchen knife.
The victim sustained lumps and bruises to her head, cuts to her nose, chin and hand, which needed hospital treatment and stitches.
Quinlan then left the property and a man outside disarmed her by hitting her in the face, breaking her jaw.
She was arrested and later charged by police on September 26 after she was discharged from hospital following jaw surgery.
A jury found Quinlan guilty at the same court on June 26.
Quinlan was sentenced to two years and three months in prison for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and eight months in prison for possession of a bladed article in a public place.
The sentences will run concurrently.
In his sentencing, His Honour Judge Ian Grainger said: “This was a deeply shocking offence against an entirely innocent victim.
"You should be utterly ashamed of yourself.”
