Developers eye Langley oil terminal housing

A vision to create a high-density housing hub at a former oil terminal in Langley has been criticised by a Conservative councillor.

A report by Slough Borough Council states the disused terminal could be used for housing to take advantage of the improved accessibility to Langley station which Crossrail will bring.

The report states: "The improved service, with direct access to central London, will make this part of Langley an attractive place to live."

The site is situated next to the train station.

Conservative ward councillor Diana Coad said any new development would add to Langley's already existing traffic problems.

She added: "This is a historically contaminated site, to put high density and social housing there is almost saying that we don't care about the quality of life for these people.

"Langley has had enough over-development and bodged traffic schemes. For the people of Langley, enough is enough."

The report was discussed by councillors at a planning meeting on Wednesday at The Centre in Farnham Road.

They agreed the type of housing and impact on nearby Harrow Market needed to be assessed.

No planning application for the site has been submitted yet.
