Exhibition launched over multi-fuel energy plant

A series of public exhibitions has been launched which aim to give Slough residents their say on a new multi-fuel combined heat and power plant.

Gas and electricity supplier SSE is behind the plans which would see the new plant located within the company's existing site in Edinburgh Avenue.

The new facility would provide low carbon energy using a range of waste-derived fuel which could then be turned into electricity to power 110,000 homes.

Project Manager, Dr Andrew Ellis, said: "The plans for a multifuel combined heat and power plant will make an important contribution to ensuring secure, low-carbon energy supplies for the future as well as leading to local job opportunities during the three-year construction programme."

The exhibitions start tomorrow at the Edinburgh Road site from noon until 7pm.

They will continue on Saturday from 10am until 2pm at The Centre in Farnham Road, and then from noon until 7pm at the Queensmere Observatory on Thursday.
