Tragic loss inspires brave mum to help others facing a difficult pregnancy

A tragic loss has inspired a brave mum to help others facing a difficult pregnancy.

In 2012 Neesha Singh lost her son in the maternity ward at Wexham Park Hospital.

She said: "I promised my midwife that I would return the following year with funds to help mums who might face a similar situation to me, in remembrance of my son Tejas Singh."

On Wednesday last week Neesha kept her promise. She joined fellow DHL employee Scott Bryant at the official opening of a tranquil two bedded room known as 'the bubble'.

It will be used by high risk mums who need one on one support from maternity staff and was made possible by Scott and Neesha's fund raising efforts.

They raised £656 - and their bosses at DHL matched their offering to make a grand total of £1,300.

Neesha said: “As I was looked after so well on the ward, I wanted to raise money to say thank you and to give something back." She brought along her daughter Sienna to the opening.

Lead midwife at Wexham Park and champion of 'the bubble' Iris Tsikimi, said: “We wanted to offer a home from home to our high risk mum’s-to-be.  The support workers are trained in massage, relaxation techniques and other beneficial techniques, all to encourage a serene start to the woman’s labour.

“I want to thank Scott and Neesha, and everyone at DHL for the generous donation to our cause."

Maternity medicine company Propess also contributed to 'the bubble'.
