A man with suspected stab wounds was found outside the Purple Turtle Bar in Reading this morning.
Police were called at around 3.45am to the scene in the Gun Street and Minster Street area.
The victim was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital where he is currently receiving treatment and is in a serious but stable condition.
Gun Street and Minster Street are closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic as well as St Mary’s Butt and part of Chain Street while police carry out an investigation.
These closures are expected to be in place for some time.
Detective chief inspector Matt Healey said: “This is a critical part of the investigation and we ask for the public’s understanding while this investigation takes place.
“The investigation is currently at a very early stage and we are in the process of establishing what has happened to the victim. Our main focus is locating those responsible.”
