Roxie
The world’s tallest Lego minifigure has today (Friday) been unveiled in the countdown to the opening of Legoland Windsor’s new Minifigure Speedway roller coaster.
Standing at 30ft tall and weighing more than six tonnes, the minifigure comes complete with a racing suit.
The installation of the minifigure Roxie reveals a first look at the new ride which will open this Easter.
The giant minifigure, which is the official mascot of the new attraction, was installed by a specialist pit crew.
The new Minifigure Speedway will be the world’s first Lego duelling coaster with Team Legends and Team Allstars cars which race forwards and in reverse, with a winning team each time.
The £10m attraction features ‘state-of-the-art technology’ and a dual-track layout.
Reaching speeds of up to 56km/h, the design of the coaster has been inspired by speedway circuits around the world.
Helen Bull, divisional director at the Legoland Windsor Resort, said: “It’s a big day for all the team at the Resort to see the world’s tallest minifigure, Roxie, take pride of place in our new attraction, Minifigure Speedway.
“There’s nowhere else in the world you can see Roxie, she’s entirely bespoke to us here at Lego Windsor – we can’t wait for everyone to see her.”
Hannah ‘Phiz’ Phizacklea, lead creative on Minifigure Speedway at Legoland Windsor Resort said: “The unveiling of Roxie as the world’s tallest Lego minifigure is a dream come true for me.
“Growing up playing with Lego and visiting the park, it feels very special to have been part of the team that dreamed up an authentic Lego character.
“Roxie is a strong female role model, and it was important we created an iconic character that children can look up to – literally.
“Minifigure Speedway brings a real thrill element to the park especially for older kids who will love the competitiveness of racing against each other as one of the All Stars or Legends.”
Tickets to Legoland Windsor start at £35 per person, with kids under 90cm entering for free.
