There’s fun for all the family mixed in with a serious message of addiction recovery at Yeldall Manor’s open day this Saturday, July 1.
Members of the public are invited in to witness the work that the Christian-based charity does with men struggling with drug or alcohol problems across an afternoon that offers food, music, games and worship.
Recent graduates of the centre’s residential rehabilitation will also be available to share their journeys of healing and recovery.
Each will take to the stage to tell their own moving and powerful recovery story of how their life has been changed since seeking help from Yeldall’s team of trained counsellors and support workers.
“Our Open Day is all about celebrating people in recovery,” said Chris Wood, part of the admissions team.
“Everyone is welcome. Mums and dads who want to come and get advice about a loved one; families of people who have been on the programme; men who want to achieve freedom from addiction and people who want to offer support and anyone who wants to be inspired by people in recovery.”
Chris was once on the programme himself and is now dedicated to helping others. Despite all this experience and knowledge, every open day and testimony is still an emotional event.
“To hear them reading their testimony is very moving,” he added.
“It’s an emotional experience and one that makes your hairs stand on end. It’s so incredible to hear the journey these amazing men have been on.
“Addiction is the biggest issue we have in this country but this is 'good news stuff' and we’re really keen to share this news with others.”
The Yeldall Manor Open Day is on Saturday, July 1, from 1pm and will be taking place at the manor in Blakes Lane, Hare Hatch.
Visitors can also enjoy a hog roast, a strawberry tea, and speak to Yeldall staff and browse information stalls.
Testimonies will be told in a ceremony from 3pm and a strawberry tea will be served from 4.15pm.
