Pupils at a school have presented shoe boxes full of donated items to a refugee charity in the town.
As part of the French curriculum, year six pupils at Castleview School have been studying voluntary work and learning about asylum seekers and refugees.
Pupils embarked on a shoe boxes project, collecting donations such as stationery, toys, and food for families supported by Slough Refugee Support (SRS).
The pupils presented the shoe boxes to the charity’s family support worker Anissa Benaziza at the Woodstock Avenue school on Wednesday, July 16.
Anissa thanked the children and said: “I would like to thank year six from Castleview School [in] Slough on behalf of SRS for their contribution and support.
“I am certain that your love of learning and putting in efforts in helping other children in need in your community will take you far in your life and you will have a bright future ahead of you.”
“We thank you all for your support to this project and I think you are truly unique and talented young people.”
Dominique Nicholls, director of Au Clair de la Lune language school in Slough, said: “As a consultant in charge of the French lessons at Castleview School I make sure that the children are exposed to most of the topics that they will have to learn during the curriculum in secondary school.
“This year I introduced charity work in [to] the curriculum. All the children loved it.
“Thanks to their hard work and generosity the children managed to gather items to fill in more than 40 shoeboxes.”
