A child sex-abuser from Slough has been jailed for 18 years for multiple offences in the 1990s.

Raymond Rackley, 78, of Pennine Road, was handed the prison sentence at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday, December 10.

Rackley had earlier been found guilty of a string of sex offences against a child by unanimous jury verdict following a seven-day trial at the same court.

He was found guilty of three counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault and two counts of indecency with a child.

Rackley sexually abused the victim, then a child, multiple times in the 1990s.

He attended a voluntary police interview over the crimes on March 9 2023, and was charged on December 3 2024.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Teranjeet Finn said: “I would like to commend the victim for his bravery in this investigation.

“His courage has allowed him to report this and speak out.

“I hope that Raymond Rackley’s sentence gives him a sense of justice for what he did to the victim as a child.

“Thames Valley Police takes sexual offences against children very seriously, whether this is a recent offence or something which has happened many years ago.

“I encourage anyone with information about sexual offences and victims of sexual offences to contact the police.

“You can contact the force in many ways, by calling 101, via our website, or by visiting a police station.”
