An application has been submitted to divide The Range in Maidenhead into two separate units.
The homeware and garden centre retailer took over the former Homebase site at unit 4 Stafferton Way Retail Park in March.
The store sells a variety of products covering garden and homeware and features the addition of Kitchens by Homebase.
Now, plans have been submitted to divide the large unit into two separate units.
According to the planning documents, the division would create an additional sub-let unit.
The planning statement added: “The current Unit 4 can be sub-divided without the express permission from the Local Planning Authority (LPA) as works would be internal only and thus not be legally classed as development.
“However, for completeness and clarity, the sub-division has been included within this application.”
Both units would be serviced through a shared back-of-house access.
The proposals also look to create a new customer entrance for the newly-formed unit to feature automatic sliding doors, curtain walling and a projecting canopy.
This would match the entrance of the existing unit and the appearance of the entrances to the neighbouring units.
The plans also propose to extend the existing mezzanine floor to provide additional floorspace for the sale of products.
The plan will extend the mezzanine floor by 464sqm.
The plans are being carried out to 'make a more efficient use of the existing retail floorspace at the premises', the plans stated.
A spokesperson for The Range said the company will not be commenting in this instance.
