Hundreds enjoyed a host of attractions and activities, including a nerf gun challenge, at the Furze Platt Infant and Junior Schools’ Summer Fair on Saturday.

The annual fundraising event, organised by Furze Platt Schools Association (FPSA) saw parents, children and teaching staff take to the playing fields of Furze Platt Junior School for a day of fun from 11.30am to 2.30pm.

The kids mocktails stall proved popular amongst youngsters and grown-ups were also treated to a bar.

A lucky dip stall was joined by a host of other attractions, including beat the goalie, a nerf gun challenge, guess the name of the giant teddy, tombolas, tin can alley and Mrs Wishy Washy.

A fierce welly wanging competition also took place.

Attendees were also treated to a live performance from the Furze Platt Junior School choir, which was followed by street dance shows from both infants and junior school pupils, led by Amy Opalko from Dance Inspired.

The day concluded with a traditional tug-of-war followed by a water fight.

In total, the FPSA hoped to have fundraised just under £10,000 from the summer fair and this will be split between both Furze Platt Infants School and Furze Platt Junior School.

Paul Thompson, FPSA vice-chair, said: “I absolutely love this annual event and I didn’t want Saturday’s fair to end, it was so enjoyable. It’s a lot of hard work for the FPSA to organise but we are lucky to have so many wonderful parents and teachers who volunteered to help set up, clear up and/or run a stall for one, two or even all three hours.”
