Rail disruption continues between London and Maidenhead after electricity supply failure

All lines have reopened, but disruption is expected following a failure of the electricity supply earlier today (Thursday) at London Paddington.

As a result, trains to and from London Paddington may be cancelled or delayed by up to 15 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 7.30pm.

Great Western Railway received a report of a fault with the Overhead Line Equipment between London Paddington and Southall.

Overhead Line Equipment is the name given to overhead wires on electrified railway lines that provides power to trains.

Elizabeth line customers should allow for short-notice alterations and platform changes, and listen to Elizabeth line station announcements or ask a member of staff for further information.

Great Western Railway tickets will be accepted on Elizabeth line services between London Paddington and Reading at no extra cost.

The Elizabeth line is also affected by this disruption.

Customers can check their journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
