The owners of a new Maidenhead wine bar are ‘buzzing’ to bring residents a new type of ‘hangout’.

The Borough is the new offering by owners Jakub Bartlomiejczyk and Constante (Con) Bianchi.

Located on Queen Street, the bar opened to the public in a soft launch on May 30 and is now officially taking bookings.

Jakub said: “Maidenhead was always my go-to town for a bit of shopping, cheeky drink or bite to eat but I’ve always had a feeling there was something missing.

“A place where you can have a cocktail, glass of wine or G&T with a decent plate of food that doesn't cost the earth.”

The Burnham resident has worked in hospitality since the age of 16 and met his business partner, Con when they worked at the Forbury Hotel in Reading.

Jakub said: “I have always dreamed of having my own bar with a restaurant where I can put people first rather than profit.”

He said Maidenhead has a good choice of pubs but no dedicated wine or cocktail bar that serves British tapas, cheeses and charcuterie.

The Borough, in a 170-year-old building, features ‘The Library’, a sixteen-seat restaurant on the first floor and a ground floor bar named ‘The Parlour’.

“I want the people of Maidenhead and around to be a part of this journey – especially being in such a beautiful building like The Borough.

“We are now the privileged custodians of this historic building where people have been socialising for over a century.”

The bar seats up to 40 guests and has a no-standing policy to prevent overcrowding and ensure an ‘intimate atmosphere’ for patrons.

The second floor of the establishment will offer three separate rooms suitable for private dining.

More than 100 wines fill the venue’s extensive wine list which will regularly change alongside the cocktail selection.

An A La Carte and Tasting menu devised by Chef Warren Hellier will also change three times a year pertaining to the season.

The Borough will host a brimming social calendar featuring wine and gin tastings, a cheese club, live music on Thursdays and an Oyster Happy Hour.

Jakub said: “We want to keep the locals entertained with as many events as we can.

“Somewhere people can call their local hangout. We are all about being accessible to all not only a selected few.

“We are buzzing, it has been a long journey as we have underestimated work involved, there was a lot of TLC required but we are on the finish line now.”
