Maidenhead United have made forward Corie Andrews their fifth signing of the summer as the Magpies squad starts to take shape ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Manager Alan Devonshire last week admitted the Magpies’ relegation from the National League had made it more challenging for the club to attract players and retain players from last season’s squad.

They are yet to release a full retained list but have drip fed through information when members of the squad from last season have agreed to stay with the club in the National League South next season.

Andrews is the latest to join the Magpies fold, having scored nine goals last season while playing for Oxford City in the National League North. Oxford finished the season in 17th place.

Andrews is the second goal scorer the Magpies have managed to persuade to York Road following the arrival of Asher Yearwood from Gosport Borough earlier in the summer.

Last season more than 50 per cent of the Magpies goals came from three players, Shawn McCoulsky, Tristan Abrahams and Reece Smith and they’ve all now left the club, with McCoulsky and Smith moving into the EFL with Harrogate Town and Abrahams joining Aldershot Town in the National League.

Replacing those goals will be key to the club’s chances of promotion this season. That’s the stated goal with both chairman Peter Griffin and manager Alan Devonshire keen for the club to get back to the National League at the earliest opportunity, however, Devonshire has tempered expectations by saying he and his squad will need a bit of time to have a look at the league and get to grips with the teams in it.

So far, they’ve signed Manny Onariase on a permanent deal - following his successful and extended loan deal from Hartlepool United last season. They’ve also signed goalkeeper Jordi van Stappershoef from Aldershot Town, Jordon Ragguette from Salisbury in the National League South and Yearwood from step 3 Gosport Borough.

They’ve also managed to retain the services of Will de Havilland, Jayden Mitchell-Lawson and Kane Ferdinand and Devonshire will hope at least a couple more from last season’s squad will agree to join them in their bid for promotion next season.
