Tuesday night allowed Magpies fans to get a glimpse of their new central defensive partnership as Joseph Ellul made his bow for the club alongside captain Alan Massey at the heart of the Magpies defence.
Despite being the first time they had played together the two looked composed throughout and bar one first half chance from Kuwait the pair dealt with their visitors attacks well.
“The boys that have come in are looking good and settled in well,” said Massey
“It’s the first time we’ve (Ellul) played together and I think it went ok.
“We get on really well and hopefully we can build a relationship and the clean sheets will come this year.”
Massey was pleased with the way Maidenhead approached the game , adding it was a ‘good test’ and a ‘good run out’ in getting ready for August 3 but the captain admitted the first goal will, as always, be to stay up next season.
“Staying up is the first one (goal),” added Massey
“We need to make sure we are in this league (National League) next year, so that first and foremost will be our goal.”
