Tennis enthusiasts can now enjoy the sport on a ‘play by pay’ basis after a community court was opened on Saturday.
Executive director from the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), Geoff Newton, was joined by members of Waltham Parish Council to open the new all-weather courts in Greatwood Place, just off Kiln Place.
Heather Scott, a parish councillor, said: “It was a lovely day and it was great Geoff came to open the courts.
“The opening means we can now offer community tennis to anybody and they have not got to join a club or be up to a certain standard.
“We are going to have a pay and play system.”
The courts were opened to the public today (Monday) and the Parish Council is hoping to give the sport a boost in the Maidenhead area.
Prices start at £4 an hour.
The council is also looking to introduce a coaching programme for children and adults.
