Claires Court School were crowned champions in both the boys’ and girls’ categories at the Independent Schools Association (ISA) London West Regional Athletics Championships, held recently at the Thames Valley Athletics Centre.
The athletics event, hosted by Claires Court and superbly organised by Jo Cox and Carolien Payne, saw 1,200 athletes aged between nine and 16 compete for 23 schools from across the region.
Claires Court athletes rose to the occasion with exceptional performances throughout the day, collecting an impressive 87 medals across the various events.
Amongst the medals there were several stand out performances with Tori Williamson, Will White, Olivia Richardson and Lara Campbell all setting new championship records.
Their success means that 32 Claires Court pupils have now earned the honour of representing London West at the ISA National Finals at Birmingham Arena later this month. Both the Boys and Girls teams were also crowned overall champions.
Speaking after the event, Headmaster Steve Richards said: “To host and win such a prestigious championship is an incredible moment for our school.
“The atmosphere, the talent on display, and the spirit of competition were outstanding. We’re immensely proud of every single athlete who competed.”
Caroline Payne, who co-led the event organisation, added: “It’s been a pleasure to welcome so many schools and see so many young people enjoying the sport. This event keeps growing each year, and Claires Court is proud to be at the heart of it.”
