Andy Forisky: 'Flackwell Heath weren't anything special'

According to Andy Forisky, Holyport are a lot more satisfied with their point than Flackwell Heath are as the sides drew 1-1 in the Combined Counties Premier Division North on Tuesday night.

Port took a surprise lead against the high-flying Heathens at Wilks Park this week with Naheer Nawaf scoring from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute.

Chris Ayres’ men then had an effort cleared off the line by Luke Appleton before Michael Harding was able to level the game on the stroke of half-time.

Holyport continued to work hard and frustrate their opponents as Harrison Hill saved a spot kick from Marcus Mealing minutes into the second half.

To compound matters, the Flackwell striker saw red in the last 10 minutes of the tie before the referee blew for full-time and confirmed the sharing of spoils.

Reflecting on the clash, midfielder Forisky said: “I think we played very well. We had a penalty in the first half which Naheer put away nicely. We did have an opportunity to go 2-0 up but Kickie (Dzimba) missed a one-on-one.

“We conceded just before half-time, but we went into the break quite well-spirited. We knew we just had to keep up that workrate, that effort in the second half and we did. Our ‘keeper pulled off a great penalty save too to deny Flackwell getting in front.

“Late on, there was a bit of an incident, and they had a man sent off so for the last 20 minutes we dominated possession, we just couldn’t get a winning goal. We’re probably happier with the point than Flackwell are.

“To be honest, Flackwell weren’t anything special in terms of their performance, their football. They are just quite a steady team, they pick up some kind of result every week.

“If you look at the games we’ve had this year, we’ve competed well in every one. We have always been in the game, even if we lose, and what has been letting us down is that ruthlessness.

“When we were 1-0 up on Tuesday, scoring that second goal would have most likely led to victory. Flackwell are a good team, but I think we matched them all over the pitch.”

Holyport host Jersey Bulls in the FA Vase on Saturday, 3pm kick-off. In contrast to Holyport, the Bulls are pushing for promotion in the Combined Counties Premier Division South. They currently sit third in the table having lost only three times all season, so Sam Lock's side will have their work cut out to reach the next round. However, Port produced one of their best performances of the season to overcome Sutton Athletic 3-0 away from home in the last round and will take confidence into the tie from holding title chasers Flackwell this week.
