Flackwell Heath’s manager is hoping his side can return to winning ways this Saturday after their latest match ended in another draw on Easter Monday.

Chris Ayres (above) admitted that while he ‘couldn’t fault’ his players for their effort during the clash with Windsor at Wilks Park, and the team had some really good chances, ‘it was disappointing’ that they didn’t take at least one of these opportunities and put the ball in the back of the net.

Ayres said the game, which finished 0-0, was a tough one for his side, who were playing their fourth game in eight days, having drawn 2-2 on Saturday against Broadfields United - the goals scored by Kieran Jordan (23’) and Fabian Driffill (90+2’).

The stalemate means the Heathens remain in fourth place for now in the Combined Counties Premier Division North, with Ben Murray ‘s Burnham following closely behind.

“It was our fourth game in eight days. The pitch was very heavy with torrential rain, and I think it was a tough one for us,” Ayres told the Advertiser this week.

“I think the [four games in eight days] has caught us up a little bit. We were a little bit leggy towards the end.

“I think our last games where we haven’t won, we really have not taken our chances in the game.

Ayres said his side ‘dominated the game’ but found it hard to break the visitors down.

“We could have been 3-0 up at half time. “We had [some] really good chances, chances that we should be scoring.”

The Heathens last secured three points on Tuesday, March 21 with a 2-0 victory over third place rivals Egham Town.

Ayres said the winless streak has been disappointing but added: “We’ve got to pick ourselves up, we’ve still got two games to go and a league cup quarter final, so we’ve still got a bit to play for.

“We’re just looking for that little bit of luck in front of goal at the minute and I’m sure if we keep going that will change and hopefully starting this Saturday at Wembley.

“We’ve just got to try and go there and get three points and get back to winning ways.”
