There is still time for stallholders take up a pitch at the popular Maidenhead Waterways Fun Day this September.
Preparations for the annual fun day by the Friends of Maidenhead Waterways (FoMW) are ‘well underway’, after the Royal Borough gave the green light to close the High Street at the Waterside Quarter to traffic for the day on Saturday, September 13.
The event will feature an action-packed of day of fun on and off the water, with an array of live acts, stalls, attractions, food vendors and the ever-popular Crazy Flamingo Chase from 10am to 3pm.
There will be an entertainment stage set up and displays along the road between The Bear and Coppa Club, as well as attractions by Maidenhead Library and in the newly refurbished amphitheatre.
The event will see magician and Magic Circle member Patrick Ashe, who also appeared on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, show off his tricks to guests.
The Devine Buskers will be keeping guests entertained on the main stage, and singer Elaine Skillen will be performing tunes for visitors.
Indie-pop folk band The Courtlands Stories will playing for guests and Glenn Stevenson will be performing some Motown and soul tracks.
Other performers expected on the day, include Mezzo-Soprano singer Charis Anne Luke, Taeppas Tump Morris dancing side, and the Waltham St Lawrence Silver Band.
Bubbles will cascade through the air as the bubble fairy roams the event, and a pirate stilt walker/s and balloon artist will also be interacting with visitors.
Over by the library, there will be an opportunity to see some farm animals at Basil & Crew mobile farm.
The Joystick Club will be providing pedal planes and a flight simulator.
There will be an array of displays to enjoy, including from the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS), who will be there with a fire tender and their rescue boat.
An opportunity to try the rotary’s hook-a-duck will be on offer and guests will also be treated to face painting, gifts, craft stalls, ice cream and food stalls.
There will be plenty of community stalls to browse, including from FoMW, Maidenhead Civic Society, Maidenhead Heritage Centre (with a vintage car), Wild Maidenhead, Maidenhead Neighbourhood Forum, Claires Court, Berkshire Scouts, Maidenhead Rowing Club, Maidenhead Lions Club, and ECO Action.
The town centre’s waterway will be a hive of activity, with a mass paddle taking place down the waterway and free boat rides by FoMW.
The Berkshire scouts will also take to the water, as will Claires Court’s rowers and there will also be sixth form team demonstrations on the day too.
Maidenhead MP Josh Reynolds, RBWM leader Simon Werner and Royal Borough mayor Mandy Brar have also been invited to the event.
The day is sponsored by Sorbon, the Louis Baylis Charitable Trust and the Rotary Club of Maidenhead Thames.

Pitch fees cost £25 for a charity/community stall, £35 for a commercial trader and £50 for a food stall.
