Boyne Hill were beaten on their own ground as Slough 2nds chased down 203 runs for victory in TVL Division 1 on Saturday.

Having won the toss and elected to bat, Boyne Hill looked in relatively good shape at 130-4 following solid contributions from the likes of Matthew Leipold (36) and Riaz (45).

Further middle order runs flowed off the bats of Tom Mellor (29) and Zia Mohammed (31) before a late mini collapse brought a somewhat premature end to their time at the crease.

Slough's second string shared the wickets around but Hill's main nemesis was Naveed Akhtar, who took 3-35, with Nadeem Syed (2-47), Syed Waqar Ali Shah (2-38) and Saif Kazim (2-37) also chipping in to limit Hill to 203 all out in 43 overs.

Hill would have been confident at the change around of limiting Slough and claiming victory, and that view would have been enhanced when Ali Ahmed (5) and Yaqoot Rafiq (3) were dismissed early on.

But Muaaz Ali Ahmed's 54 from 69 balls resurected the visitor's chances and steady and solid contributions from the middle and lower order saw them gradually creep toward their target.

Feroz Baig made 16, Nabeel Janed hit 24 and Adam Ali 29. Mohammed did his best to keep Slough in check with 3-37 but the runs continued to flow, with Syed Waqar Ali Shah making 28 as Slough got home to 205-9 in the 45th over.

Hill are back in action on Saturday at Wargrave.
