The Royal Borough has revealed that Cookham Causeway will reopen to vehicles and pedestrians tomorrow after heavy flooding caused major roads in and out of the village to close.
The causeway was opened in the early hours of this morning (January 7) after Sutton Road was closed due to flooding, leaving no road access into Cookham.
The council has now provided an update on social media stating that the causeway will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians, with the exception of emergency access from 7pm this evening (January 7).
However, the causeway will reopen from 6am tomorrow (January 8) on a schedule for pedestrians and vehicles.
In its post on its Facebook page, the authority stated that specific times have been allocated for pedestrians, particularly to facilitate children going to and from school.
The schedule running from Monday to Thursday is as follows:
The post added: “Please note that opening times are dependent on water levels and wider conditions, and are therefore subject to change.
“Please take extreme care and adhere to instructions from those manning the Causeway.”
The borough has also stated that Quarry Wood Road in Cookham is also closed due to flooding.
In a post on its Facebook page, the authority, said: “Please be aware that Quarry Wood Road in Cookham is closed due to flooding.
“The road will be reopened when water levels recede. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
